No Testimonials? Try This…
Earlier this month, I was writing the Web site content for a client. She has a vast amount of experience – and huge qualifications for her business…but since this particular business is brand new, she does not have testimonials that are specific to what she is doing today. So what did we do?
“Marie” told me several tales about her amazing accomplishments over the years in her other businesses and while working with other companies. She definitely knows what she’s doing and I wanted to showcase that expertise as it relates to her new business.
So for a few of her amazing tales, I create mini stories that quickly, and succinctly explained the situation – the problem, Marie’s talented touch, and the outcome – in about 100 to 150 words. And then we placed these in shaded textboxes or sidebars on various pages of her Web site.
It’s one thing to read about all of Marie’s skills, but it elevates it to another level when you read her stories and you feel like you’re witnessing what she does first hand.
So how have you changed a client’s life? If you’re new in business or simply don’t have any testimonials (and you do want to get them as soon as you can), share a mini story. It can be written in 3 steps.
Step 1: Share the problem.
Step 2: What did you do to help?
Step 3: The resolution – what was the outcome?
Everyone loves a good story…share yours! (And don’t forget to promote it on social media as well!)
